Dr. Bogdan Druga
Bogdan Druga studied biology in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. He completed his PhD at Babeș-Bolyai University, focusing on the molecular biology of cyanobacteria. After two postdoctoral stages at Eawag (Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology, Switzerland) and the Technical University of Darmstadt (Germany), he returned to Romania, where he is now a Senior Researcher and, since 2022, the Director of the Institute of Biological Research Cluj, a branch of the National Institute of Research and Development for Biological Sciences (INCDSB). His main research interests include the adaptive evolution of phytoplankton to environmental changes, the potential toxicity of cyanobacterial blooms, and the biotechnological applications of microalgae.
He has led multiple national and international projects and is the Ambassador of the International Society for Microbial Ecology (ISME) in Romania.
Since January 2025, he has also been serving as an Honorary Advisor to the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research.
