Dr. Vlad Cojocaru 

I am fascinated by how chemistry and physics principles translate into biological function. Following this, my scientific career has been dedicated to understanding how atoms arrange, move, and interact in large biomolecular structures to drive biology and life. I studied Physics and Chemistry at the West University Timisoara, after which I graduated from the International Molecular Biology Max Planck School in Göttingen, Germany, and obtained my PhD degree from the University of Göttingen. After a postdoctoral stage at the Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies, I moved to a project leader position at the Max Planck Institute in Muenster, Germany, and finally to a group leader position at the Hubrecht Institute in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Since 2022, I have been a senior scientist at the University of Utrecht and a principal scientist at the Babes-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, where I am currently leading the Computational Structural Biochemistry group at the STAR-UBB Institute.
