Prof. Dr. Patriciu-Andrei ACHIMAŞ-CADARIU
Dr. Patriciu Andrei Achimaș-Cadariu is a distinguished oncologic surgeon, researcher, and academic leader recognized for his contributions to cancer treatment, surgical oncology, and healthcare policy. With extensive experience in gynecologic oncology, he has dedicated his career to advancing cancer research, medical education, and national cancer control strategies.
Currently, he serves as the National Coordinator of the National Competence Center in Cancer and Scientific Coordinator of the National Plan for Cancer Control and Combat in Romania. He is also the Co-Coordinator of the Multidisciplinary Research and Comprehensive Cancer Approach Center, a leading initiative integrating research and clinical oncology. His leadership extends to academia, where he is a Professor at the “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca, specializing in oncologic surgery and gynecologic oncology.
Dr. Achimaș-Cadariu has been a Primary Oncologic Surgeon at the “Prof. Dr. Ion Chiricuță” Oncology Institute in Cluj-Napoca since 2017 and previously served as the Medical Director of the institution. His academic and clinical expertise is further demonstrated by his role as President of the Romanian Society of Oncologic Surgery and Gynecologic Oncology, where he contributes to advancing surgical standards and oncologic care in Romania.
Beyond his medical and academic achievements, Dr. Achimaș-Cadariu has played a pivotal role in shaping healthcare policies. Since 2021, he has been a Member of the Romanian Parliament and President of the Cancer Control Group within the Parliament, advocating for national strategies to improve cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
His contributions extend internationally as a member of the European Society of Gynecologic Oncology (ESGO) and a former National Representative of ENYGO (the ESGO branch for young gynecologic oncologists). He has participated in numerous national and international research projects, including studies on personalized medicine, cancer genomics, and innovative surgical techniques. His research has been published in high-impact journals, focusing on molecular oncology, surgical advancements, and cancer epidemiology.
Dr. Achimaș-Cadariu is also committed to medical education and professional training, coordinating postgraduate courses in oncologic surgery and gynecologic oncology. He has been instrumental in training future specialists and has mentored over 15 Ph.D. students. Additionally, he has organized numerous national and international medical conferences and workshops, including ESGO workshops in Romania, strengthening collaborations in oncologic research and practice.
With over 10,000 surgical procedures performed, a Master’s degree in Advanced Oncology from Ulm University, Germany, and multiple prestigious awards and recognitions, including the “Iuliu Hațieganu” Award and the Order of “Meritul Sanitar”, Dr. Achimaș-Cadariu remains at the forefront of oncologic surgery and research. His dedication to innovation and excellence continues to drive advancements in cancer treatment, education, and healthcare policy in Romania and beyond.
